It’s been reported today that comedian Russell Brand has said that he’d love to step into Matt Smith’s shoes to play the role of the Doctor on Doctor Who, but would adopt a persona for the Time Lord that’s more comparable to Tom Baker’s characterization of the iconic figure.
In addition, it’s also been revealed that Russell is set to appear on Question Time alongside Boris Johnson – where maybe the Question up for debate is what the hell are they trying to do to the show’s credibility – but more on that in a moment.
First, of Russell’s Doctor Who ambition, he told Absolute Radio, “I’d love to be the Doctor…
“I’d be like a Tom Baker one, a long scarf, flouncy, wistful, quoting occasional poems, kicking Cybermen in the nuts.”
Well, fear not Who fans for his appointment to the role is about as likely as me landing it.
But on now to his forthcoming appearance on Question Time, and as mentioned, he’ll join London Mayor Boris Johnson in the show that airs on BBC1 on June 20.
The Sun’s TV Biz adds of Brand, “He will be the latest celebrity on the show, after appearances by Charlotte Church, Alex James and Fern Britton.
“And it comes after Russell yesterday revealed he struggled to stay faithful during his marriage to singer Katy Perry.”
He apparently said, “I live a life where I have a lot of freedom, so if I meet someone and I go: ‘Right let’s be monogamous’, that’s a f****** change.”
Maybe should’ve swerved the whole marriage thing then Russell, no?
